When an upload is rejected, the first step is to identify the actual limit. A website may restrict file size, page count, file type, or a combination of these.
Split at sensible boundaries
Whenever possible, divide the document between chapters, forms, invoices, or supporting-document groups. A logical split is easier to review and easier for the recipient to understand than arbitrary page ranges.
Use consistent filenames
A simple pattern such as Application-Part-01.pdf, Application-Part-02.pdf, and Application-Part-03.pdf makes the sequence obvious.
Check every output file
Open the first and last page of each part. Confirm that no page has disappeared and that an important table, form, or signature has not been divided awkwardly.
Keep the original
The split files are delivery copies. Keep the original large PDF so you can recreate a different set of parts if the destination website changes its requirements.
